Where Blue-Gray Ballast Works Best

Use blue-gray stone on main lines, mountain routes, contemporary track, bridge approaches, industrial scenes, quarry areas, and layouts that need a cooler rock color than tan or brown.

Use More Than One Size

Use scale ballast around the ties, then blend powder, sand and gravel along the shoulders. Add larger rocks lower on slopes and around cuts to create a more natural transition.

Not Sure Which Size You Need?

Tell us your scale, railroad, location and the scene you are building. We can help you choose between ballast, powder, sand and gravel, rocks, or boulders before you order.
