Santa Fe Main-Line Ballast
Santa Fe ballast varied across desert, mountain, and transcontinental routes. These G scale materials provide three useful Southwestern starting points.
Santa Fe Yards and Sidings
Mix older ballast with dirt, cinders, coal, weeds, and spilled materials for a working railroad appearance.
Santa Fe Scenery Materials
Build high desert, canyon, mountain, town, and transcontinental scenery around Santa Fe track.
G Scale Rock-Size Reminder
For G scale, a rock product ending in 6 is small, 7 is medium and can also work as a boulder, and 8+ creates larger rock. The special 03 ending is Sand & Gravel and can also be used as rip rap.

Santa Fe routes crossed many states and mineral regions. Match the ballast to the location and era you model instead of using one color across the entire railroad.
