Very few industries could afford crushed rock for their driveways and work areas. Junkyards were a prime example of this. The INDUSTRIAL DIRT #2000 from armballast.com is a special blend of rock powder designed to represent dirt that would have an accumulation of chemicals and oils churned up in it over a period of time¹. This product is typically used in model railroad ballast for N scale, HO scale, O Scale, and G Scale layouts³.

The dry color in the package is designed to be mixed into a paint with 50/50 white glue and water. You can brush it in place and work it into any crevices for complete coverage. It’s suitable for applying over foam and/or plaster scenery shell²⁴. This product is used to create a more realistic and authentic look for model railroad scenes¹²⁴.
